Candle Making Experience
Urban Wick Candle Bar is Southeast Michigan's first guided candle-making experience. You pick from over 90 fragrance oils and pour your own soy candle. The process typically takes between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the time spent selecting your scent(s) and the number of products you choose to create.

How Does a Candle-Making Experience Actually Work?
To start, you will explore our fragrance wall, which features over 90 single scents. Take your time and write down all the scents you like—feel free to list as many as you want! Once you have your favorites, one of our scent designers will help you narrow down your choices to create a custom scent completely unique to you. It’s such a fun process!
Once you settle on a fragrance profile, you pick your vessel. We have many vessels to choose from, so you can pick one that suits your style and personality! Then comes the pour: you will add your scent combo to the warm wax and stir.
After the pour, your candle needs time to cool and set for 90-120 minutes. The set time is determined by the size and style of the candle vessel chosen.
What Actually Happens When You Pour Your Candle
The key is temperature control. Natural soy wax must be poured at a specific temperature to bond cleanly with the fragrance oil. If the wax is too hot, the oil will burn off and fail to bind with the wax.
Maintaining this balance is essential for the quality of our candles!

A hand-poured natural soy candle with your custom scent blend. At Urban Wick, you can create:

At Urban Wick you can take your finished product home the same day or we offer next-business-day pickup. Either way, you leave with something you made yourself.

For larger private events of 18 to 30 guests, Urban Wick offers full private event space rental.
How Much Do Candle-Making Experiences Cost?
Pricing varies per person. The price is determined by the style and size of candle vessel chosen or product you choose to make.
- Typically, $38 to $75 per person
- Reservation fee: A portion of your reservation fee will be applied toward your purchase at checkout
- Private event space: pricing varies by venue; Urban Wick charges $450 for a 3-hour private space rental for 18-30 guests
- Morning private parties: available for 10-15 guests on select weekdays only
A portion of your reservation fee at Urban Wick applies toward whatever you purchase during your visit. There will be additional charges based on the products made. The reservation fee just holds your spot, and it is non-refundable and no credit given for no-shows or cancelations without 48-hour notice. You can book your experience here.
