Create a Candle That Feels Like You

At Urban Wick Candle Bar, you can make your own candle. Pick from over 80 fragrance oils and blend them into your own hand-poured soy candle. The scent designers walk you through the whole process. It takes about one to two hours. When you are done, your candle needs time to set. You can walk around the neighborhood while you wait. Reservations are recommended, so book your spot in advance.

When you design your own candle at Urban Wick, you're not filling out a form or clicking buttons online. You're at a real candle bar in Downtown Birmingham, surrounded by fragrance oils, guided by someone who actually knows what they're doing. The result is a candle that smells like you made it, because you did.

How Does the Candle-Making Experience Work?

It starts at the bar. Your scent designer introduces you to the fragrance oil collection and helps you understand how different notes blend together. From there, you pick and mix your own combination.

Once your custom scent is ready, it gets poured into natural soy wax with an organic cotton wick. Your candle sets while you have time to walk around the shops and restaurants in Downtown Birmingham.

When you return, your creation is ready to take home.

Why Urban Wick?

Urban Wick was founded in July 2020 by Marlene and Elise Mansour, a mother-daughter team based in Birmingham, MI. It was the first candle bar of its kind in Southeast Michigan.

Most visits last 1-2 hours. You'll spend time selecting and blending your scent, pouring your candle, and then exploring the area while it sets.

Groups of up to 8 can book online. For groups of 18-30, private event hosting is available for $400 (3-hour space rental). Morning private parties are also available Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, for 10-20 guests.

Yes, $10 per person at the time of booking. That amount is applied to your purchase at checkout, so it's not an added cost.
