Fall Just Isn't Fall Without Pumpkin

The pumpkin. This round, orange gourd is so intrinsically tied to Fall it’s hard to even think of enjoying it any other time of the year. Pumpkin pie, jack o’ lanterns, and pumpkin-spiced everything are so closely associated with falling leaves and warm sweaters, just the smell alone puts us in a cozy mood.

Orange You Glad You Love Pumpkin

Did you know not only is pumpkin pleasing as a lovely scent but it also has some fantastic benefits as well? Just like carrots, pumpkins get their orange color from beta-carotene, which is known for promoting healthy eyesight. Pumpkin also contains vitamins A, C and E, zinc, fiber, lutein and zeaxanthin - which are all beneficial to the eyes.

And Apparently Others Do Too!

And not only is pumpkin good for your eyes, it also may play an interesting role in securing some seasonal love connections. The aroma of pumpkin when mixed with lavender is an olfactory aphrodisiac for men. Per a study by The Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, 40 percent of male test subjects had a positive reaction to the scent combination.  Pumpkin combined with the scent of doughnuts had a positive reaction in 20 percent of test subjects and really, who could blame them?

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice

Adding spices like cinnamon, ginger, and clove to pumpkin gives it an extra little punch of energy. These spices are stimulating and help keep your mind and senses alert. So not only does that Pumpkin Spice latte smell good, it also can help keep you active and engaged.

Come in to Urban Wick Candle Bar this fall and pour a pumpkin spice or pumpkin soufflé candle and bring the warm scent of this seasonal favorite home with you.
